A

Account holder

The person who has applied for and paid London 2012 for one or more tickets and who is registered in London 2012's records as the holder of London 2012 Olympic Games and/or Paralympic Games tickets.

Additional accessibility requirements

Customers who have any additional accessibility requirements and need a specific seat location within the venue that best meets their needs, such as seats near the front of a stand for visually impaired people.

Allocation

The number of tickets allocated to and sold to a customer.

Authorised Ticket Reseller (ATR)

A company which is appointed by an NOC or NPC and approved by the IOC to purchase Olympic and/or Paralympic Games tickets from LOCOG. The ATR sells and distributes the tickets to the general public within the territory in which the ATR has been granted the right to sell tickets. An NOC or NPC may undertake the responsibilities of an ATR.

B

Ballot

An automated and random selection process used to allocate tickets for over-subscribed sessions.

BFPO

A British Forces Post Office (BFPO) address.

C

Competition venue

A venue where sport competition occurs during the Olympic Games or Paralympic Games.

D

Designated European countries

Currently: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

ExCeL day pass

An ExCeL day pass gives you access to all sports in ExCeL, other than Volleyball (Sitting) finals. Day passes allow you general admission entry to sports on a first come, first served basis and are subject to availability.

Field of play

The sport competition area plus the immediate and surrounding support areas with a boundary to separate the spectators. The boundaries and activities permitted to take place within it are distinct for each sport. In sporting language, the field of play is often referred to as court, field, pool, track, ring, course or arena.

Games

The London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

General admission

A session where you will not have an assigned (reserved) seat.

Group Organiser ticket

Where ticket limits allow, if you apply for 20 tickets you will be entitled to two Group Organiser tickets at no extra charge, totalling 22 tickets. The maximum number of Group Organiser tickets that could be allocated is five.

The London 2012 Olympic Games and all related events and activities for which tickets are required for admission.

Olympic Park day pass

An Olympic Park day pass allows you to see any sport in the Olympic Park, other than Athletics, Cycling or Swimming and some finals. Day passes allow you general admission entry to sports on a first come, first served basis and are subject to availability.

Original purchaser

The account holder who submitted the original ticket application and is the registered account holder for the tickets.

Over-subscribed

Where there are more requests than the number of tickets available.

Paralympic Games

The London 2012 Paralympic Games and all related events and activities for which tickets are required for admission.

Price category

A group of tickets in a similar location within a venue with a common price, for example, A, B, C, etc.

Reserved seating

Assigned seating at a session.

Resident

A person who has a valid street address within a country. The term 'resident' should not be confused with 'citizen'.

Resident of a designated European country

A person that is a resident of a designated European country with a valid street address within one of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

'Scalper', 'broker', 'tout'

An unauthorised organisation or individual that buys and sells tickets at a premium or marked-up value in excess of their original retail price and is sometimes also referred to as a secondary market reseller.

Seat assignment process

The process of assigning a seating space reservation to a specific seat location (row x, seat x).

Session codes

Each session has its own session code. These codes are given on the Olympic Games competition schedule, where you can see a summary of all the events featured in each session.

Sessions and events

Each session at the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games is a period of time that includes one or more events. For example, a single Hockey session at the Olympic Games may include two matches, and an Athletics session at the Olympic Games or a Boccia session at the Paralympic Games may include a variety of qualifying rounds or finals. Tickets for an individual session entitle the ticket-holder to see every event included in it.

Special prices

Olympic Games ticket prices set by London 2012 for young people (aged 16 and under at 27 July 2012) and seniors (aged 60 and over at 27 July 2012) in certain sessions.

Paralympic Games ticket prices set by London 2012 for young people (aged 16 and under at 29 August 2012) and seniors (aged 60 and over at 29 August 2012) in certain sessions.

Spectator

Anyone who occupies a seat in a venue.

Sport

A category of athletic competition held during the Olympic Games or Paralympic Games in connection with which sessions are staged.

The Royal Artillery Barracks day pass

A day pass for The Royal Artillery Barracks allows you to see both Archery and Shooting. Day passes allow you general admission entry to sports on a first come, first served basis and are subject to availability.

Ticket

A document which on presentation, entitles the holder to be admitted to a session. The document may be in electronic form, in computer-generated form or a conventional, printed ticket of admission. It is a revocable licence from LOCOG for a person to be admitted to a venue to view a session.

Ticket application form

LOCOG's official ticket application form, whether online or paper, used to apply for and, if successful, to purchase tickets to one or more sessions.

Ticket holder

A person who requests admission to a session and has a valid ticket to the session. A ticket holder may also be an account holder or a person other than the account holder.

Ticket limit

The maximum number of tickets a customer can request for a particular session, as clearly indicated on the official ticketing website and in the Official Ticketing Guide.

UK Overseas Territory

Currently: Gibraltar, Anguilla, British Antarctic Territory, British Indian Ocean Territory, Falkland Islands, Montserrat, Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno Islands, St Helena and St Helena Dependencies (Ascension and Tristan da Cunha), South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands, Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia and The Turks and Caicos Islands.

UK resident

A person that is a resident of the UK with a valid street address within a UK country. For the purposes of ticket sales for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, UK residents are defined as those who live in: England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands (Jersey and Guernsey), the Isle of Man, Gibraltar, Anguilla, British Antarctic Territory, British Indian Ocean Territory, Falkland Islands, Montserrat, Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno Islands, St Helena and St Helena Dependencies (Ascension and Tristan da Cunha), South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands, Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia and The Turks and Caicos Islands.

V

Venue

The location for which a ticket or other form of credential validly issued by LOCOG is required for entry for the Games, including the venues for the Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony and sport sessions for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, including any area which, in connection with the production or presentation of the Games: (a) is secured by a perimeter and public access is controlled, or (b) is designated for media, official athlete training or official athlete housing and is not open to the general public. Venue perimeters are established by LOCOG in its sole discretion.

Venue code of conduct

The set of rules outlined in this agreement governing the conduct of a ticket holder attending a session at a venue.
